Motion perception in extended reality environments, particularly within moving vehicles, presents unique challenges that blend cognitive science, human factors, and immersive technology. This presentation brings insights into how dynamic vehicle motion interacts with multimodal sensory inputs, influencing user experiences. With his expertise in cognitive science and XR, the speaker’s research focuses on optimizing sensory synchronization, addressing potential discrepancies between visual cues and vestibular inputs that can lead to discomfort or motion sickness. In XR systems within moving vehicles, such as those developed for automotive use cases, this issue becomes particularly critical. The speaker will explore strategies for enhancing user comfort and safety, examining how to leverage advanced motion tracking and adaptive technology to improve motion perception, ensuring seamless virtual experiences for users while minimizing disorientation in a moving vehicle context.
